U.S. Businesses Suffer from Tariffs
The tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump have caused widespread disruptions in the U.S. business sector, with many business owners expressing concern about the ongoing negative impacts on their operations.
For example, Steve Schriefer, CEO of "Eco Lips" in Iowa, mentioned the ongoing uncertainty regarding the company's future supply chains, with expectations of a $5 million increase in product costs over the year.
In the toy business, Paul Kosler, owner of "Into the Wind" store in Colorado, expressed his concern about the impact of tariffs on China, saying that they pose a serious threat to their business, with product prices increasing by 7% to 10%.
Cultural institutions have also faced similar challenges. Aisha Ahmed-Bost, Executive Director of the "Newman Center for the Performing Arts" in Denver, had to deal with a sudden increase in the cost of installing new seats in the performance hall, amounting to $140,000, due to the new tariffs.
These cases illustrate the direct impacts of tariffs on various sectors of the U.S. economy, increasing economic uncertainty and affecting the stability of business operations.
