In recent months, global gold prices have risen by 25.1% since the beginning of 2025, while silver has gained only 13.5%, according to data from Financial Express. This divergence has pushed the gold-to-silver ratio above 100—a level reached only twice since the COVID-19 crisis in 2020.

This ratio, which measures the number of ounces of silver one can buy with a single ounce of gold, has historically indicated potential for silver outperformance when elevated. Over the past two decades, the average ratio stood around 68, yet it recently surged to 126, marking a significant historical anomaly.

However, analysts caution that weak global economic growth could weigh on silver’s performance due to its heavy reliance on industrial demand. More than 60% of silver's demand stems from industrial applications, including electric vehicles, solar panels, and communication technologies.

With industrial demand—particularly from clean energy sectors—continuing to rise, silver could find long-term support, enhancing its chances for significant price appreciation once broader economic fears subside.
